Configuring Update Settings for the Zscaler App

Configuring Update Settings for the Zscaler App

Zscaler regularly releases new versions of the Zscaler App. As an admin, you can decide what App version is used by your organization.

Once your users enroll with the Zscaler App, the App automatically checks every two hours to see if an updated version is available to download. Alternatively, the user can click Update App in the More window to check for and download any available updates. See image.

You can control which version is available for downloading or you can make no versions available for downloading. The following auto-update options are available:

  • Auto-Update to Latest Version upon Release: The Zscaler App will automatically update to the latest version without any admin action. When Zscaler releases a new version, the App will automatically download that version the next time the App does a check, or if the user clicks Update App. See instructions.
  • Auto-Update to Selected Version: Download a new version (or any available version) and test it to ensure it meets your organization's needs. If satisfied, you can select this version in the Zscaler App Portal. Once you select the new version, the App will automatically download it the next time the App does a check, or if the user clicks Update App. See instructions.

Zscaler recommends using this option as it allows your organization to test and confirm that any new version of the Zscaler App works for your organization before it's updated on all user devices.

  • No Auto-Update: The App will never update on its own. Your organization will take full responsibility for updating the App using your own mechanism (for example, using a GPO policy to do a fresh install of a desired version). See instructions.
