About Backup and Restore

You can back up and restore a set of policies if, for example:

  • You want to modify your existing configuration, but do not want to commit the change without first having a backup in case the new configuration does not function as intended.
  • You want a strict policy that has very little tolerance for risk that you can revert to in case of a virus outbreak or if your security infrastructure suddenly changes.

The Zscaler service backs up all policies, including their components, such as time intervalsURL categories and keywordsDLP engines and dictionaries, and all the related configuration settings. You can save up to 200 backup files.

  1. Configure a new backup file. See How do I create backup files to restore my policies?
  2. View a list of all configured backup files.
  3. Search for a configured backup file.
  4. View and restore policies from a back up file. See How do I view and restore policies from a backup file?
  5. Modify the table and its columns. See How do I use tables in the admin portal?
